"Now Hiring: Electrical Engineer - Team Lead in Ottawa, ON Canada Our federal government client is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead operations on a contractual basis. Management Tasks Supervise the work of three engineers and four technicians Ensure the timely completion of all planned and unplanned testing and analysis requested of the Engineering Section Assign projects based on the respect of work description and manage staff performance Participate in one staffing action ( paperwork, interview…) as requested Participate in the operational planning of the Section for 2013-2014 Develop a plan/strategy for continuous improvements Participate in management team meetings as requested Provide technical and scientific advice to internal stakeholders as well as upper management Project Lead Tasks Lead the Electrical consumer products PSL file Participate in one staffing action (paperwork, interview…) Building and implementing PSL electrical and electronic testing capacity Participate in briefing notes/documents requested by upper management Finance Provide recommendations on the section budget and required capital Review and signed purchase orders for laboratory supplies Processing service agreements with PWGSC as necessary Managing contracts (small and long forms including capital items) as necessary Reporting on budget (e.g. projections and forecasts through IPPRS quarterly reporting) as necessary Quality Management System (QMS) Attend QMS training in order to contribute to the PSL QMS Identify non-conformities and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions Provide feedback on laboratory quality procedures to address ongoing implementation of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act and new business processes Provide response to internal and external audit findings Provide input into the LIMS development project as required Essential Qualification: Graduation with an engineering degree from a recognized university with specialization in mechanical, electrical or other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the positions. The candidate needs to be eligible for certification as professional engineer in Canada. Recent and significant (3-5 years) experience in managing major scientific projects and supervising engineers Experience in providing scientific or technical advice and recommendations on mechanical and/or electrical hazards of products.
