Director of ENgineering in Chapel Hill, NC Director of Engineering Strata Solar, LLC - Chapel Hill, NC Principal Duties and Responsibilities Direct system design, construction monitoring, commissioning and O&M for commercial rooftop PV projects and utility scale ground mount PV projects. * Electrical Engineer of Record for PV projects. * Manage and direct Engineering Department consisting of Engineers, Designers, Architects and Field Technicians * Interface with utilities and coordinate interconnection. * Engage, contract and manage Civil, Structural & Electrical engineering consultants and independent engineers. * Lead O&M technical efforts. Oversee routine maintenance and alarm response. Responsible for maintaining plant availability and performance. * Evaluate new products and technologies for use in future projects. Interface with vendors to specify equipment. * Provide commercial sales support including feasibility analysis, preliminary engineering, meeting with customers, and reviewing proposals. Minimum Qualifications BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. * PE license * 5 years experience managing the technical aspects of PV projects, minimum 100MWs * PV system expertise with a solid understanding of transmission and distribution systems, low voltage electrical systems, communication systems and electronics. * Knowledgeable in all aspects of PV project business. * Proven management experience with PV projects is required. Experience with supervising and developing staff and in mentoring less experienced engineers and designers. * Ability to develop, manage and direct a highly productive team. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Self-motivated, with an ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines.
