Opportunity The Technology department within Paddy Power solves challenges that are truly unique in complexity and scale. The Group has retail, B2B, B2C and e-commerce dimensions. The technology function, which comprises a wide range of skill sets, will double in size in the coming year. This is unique opportunity for an outstanding Developer to join a highly capable applications development team, working in a largely Greenfield environment. Based in Dublin, this role will report to the Software Development Manager Responsibilities As a Senior Software Engineer you have worked in software development for a minimum of 5 years. You are accomplished in a number of programming languages and an expert in at least one. You have a working knowledge of at least one scripting language and a number of application servers. You are familiar with several relational databases and have a solid understanding of database schema design. You also have an awareness of alternatives to a relational database for persistent data storage. You are conversant in software design patterns and familiar with at lease one software architecture style. In your career to date you have applied a number of software development methodologies and are able to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of one over another. You are decisive when necessary and seek to continually improve the capability of the team in at least one area of interest. You have established your expertise within the business domain and lead in creative discussions with the client. Requirements Undergraduate degree or equivalent in software development, a numerate discipline or other relevant subject. 3+ years experience of developing software using enterprise Java. Strong understanding of Design Patterns (in particular those documented by the GOF and EAI patterns catalogues). 3+ years experience of using a dependency injection container such as Spring, Google Guice etc. 2+ years experience of using Object Relational Mapping tools such as Hibernate, iBatis etc. 2+ years of database schema design including normalisation, de-normalisation and query performance analysis. 3+ years experience of applying test driven development techniques using frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, JMock, EasyMock etc. 3+ years experience of developing automated acceptance tests using frameworks such as Selenium, FIT, Fitnesse etc. 2+ years experience of systems integration tools and technologies such as ESB, Web Services, REST etc 1+ years of working within an Agile environment methods such as Scrum or XP. 2+ years experience of managing a continuous integration environment such as Cruise Control, Jenkins/Hudson, Bamboo etc. 1+ years experience of code quality reporting using tools such as Checkstyle, PMD, Sonar etc. We offer a highly attractive benefits package, commensurate with a leading Plc, including; salary, bonus, pension, healthcare and life cover. **We do not offer Visa Sponsorship"
