Overall Role Purpose :
• Formulates and designs software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
• Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
• Translates logical designs into physical designs taking into account the target environment, performance requirements, and existing systems.
• Produces detailed designs including physical data flows, file layouts, common routines and utilities, program specifications or prototypes, along with backup, recovery, and restart procedures.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities :
• Technology: Researches literature, patents, and current practices. Designs and develops computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development.
• People: Provides guidance, leadership, and consultation for clients/users, staff, and vendors in specifying information flows, processes/procedures, and data objects that will meet the business requirements.
• Customer: Provides technical consultation and troubleshooting with customers concerning development and maintenance of software system.
• Business: Assists in defining, planning, and justifying (in business terms) projects to develop/implement automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
• Financial: Analyzes costs and vendor capabilities related to software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
