"Help us revolutionise the way customers use and pay for their energy. As part of a £1bn Government mandate, EDF Energy plans to install six million Smart Meters nationwide by 2019. It's a huge, highly technical operation - and one you'll spearhead across London, the South East and the South West. Flexible between Bexleyheath and Hove About the role Smart Meters will allow energy companies and customers to understand exactly how much energy is being used without anyone visiting the premises. And we plan to fit 20,000 of them every week. For you, that creates a large-scale leadership role as you establish, mobilise and manage a field-based technical workforce of some 750 people. Taking charge of everything from quality and operational performance to health & safety and costs, you'll define key roles and ways of working, making sure your team is ready and able to achieve the right-first-time installation of 2,500 meters a day. Although your responsibilities will start with Smart Metering in late 2013, they'll encompass all metering work by 2015. So you must also build strong relationships with colleagues across the business, working with them to align targets, plans and processes and share best practice. About you Thanks to proven experience of leading large field forces in a unionised environment, you'll be an expert in operational management. So you'll know how to get the best out of significant budgets and multifunctional teams. We'll look for strong energy sector knowledge too as it's important you understand our regulatory and competitive landscape as well as the technical aspects of Smart Meters and their infrastructure. It's a background that will convince us you know how to identify and manage critical business issues, make sound decisions, think laterally and influence at all levels.
