This position reports directly to the President. Responsibilities • Monitor and have input into the performance of operations and work proactively towards improving operations • Monitoring and setting standards for the financial information provided by foreign operations and benchmarking all laboratories • Compiling /updating budgets, business plans and financial statements in accordance with the requirements of our external auditors and corporate bankers • Negotiating with our bankers • Financial managing and forecasting and risk analysis including calculating bank covenant requirements • Manage the interrelationships of our realty and other corporate holding companies • Manage the guidance and supervision of the accounting department personnel (collections, A/R, A/P, and Payroll) • Supervise the preparation of work papers supporting the annual tax return for our auditors • Tax implications of international tax (i.e. implications of transfer pricing) • Cash flow management Qualifications Education and Experience CGA or CA accounting designation with at least 2-5 years experience working as an accountant, or in a professional services firm Experience in drafting budgets Experience in internal/external audit Some exposure to tax implications of being a multinational corporation an asset Competencies Demonstrate self-motivation, responsibility and analytical ability. Ability to multitask as well as work under pressure to manage deadlines Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and drive Ability to reflect on one’s own work and to manage a small accounting group and see the wider implications of financial decisions Willingness to work overtime if required achieving the required goals Willingness to travel if required to some of our corporate labs in other countries Strong verbal and written communication skills in English but some French and Spanish skills will be an asset Knowledge of various accounting packages like Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, and MYOB.
