Responsibilities: The following responsibilities may include some or all of the following or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the President. • Knowledge and skill in ICP and ICP/MS analysis and maintenance for all instrumentation in the Litho-geochemistry Department according to Quality Control Procedures (QCP) • Organize work orders and scheduling work according to priority on a daily basis for all currently active shifts - day, afternoon, and night shift • Monitor the performance of operations and improve them • Provide technical training, guidance and supervision so that SOP’s are understood and followed • Daily Supervision of Technicians in the Lithogeochemistry Department • Ensure all analysis is produced on time for our customer needs with high quality • Perform procedures in the absence of a technician, or in the case of insufficient staffing • Motivate employees • Investigate and follow up on non-conformances and complaints with the Litho-geochemistry department to deliver effective technical and quality corrective measures • Maintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment in accordance with policies and procedures • Comply with ALL safety procedures including MSDS review for all chemicals used • Manage waste disposal to meet municipal requirements • Foster and Maintain a positive environment Skills: • B.Sc. analytical chemistry/inorganic chemistry • Over 3 years commercial laboratory working experience as a chemistry supervisor or manager leading people • Ability to multitask, work well under pressure to meet deadlines • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and drive • Willingness to put in needed effort to meet company goals of turnaround time, quality and cost management • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Quality driven, pro-active and proven time management skills • Ability to work well independently, with others and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills • Exhibit effective working relationships and manage conflict constructively and positively • Ability to provide suggestion(s) and action on the next plausible step when problems arise • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English • Proficient in using various types of computer software: LIMS, Microsoft EXCEL, WORD • Knowledge of GLP and good management practices • Compliance with the company’s Health & Safety and Professional Conduct Policies Additional Information Actlabs offers a comprehensive benefit program.
