"Position Summary: This position is responsible for leading North American strategic and tactical Purchasing activities in close alignment to the corporate Purchasing organization and its global sourcing targets, strategies and activities, resulting in synergies like harmonized strategies and supplier panels, worldwide optimized pricings and common contracts, as well as assurance of supply, and optimal quality of purchased products and services. Nature and Scope: This position is the top purchasing role in the company for the North American operations responsible for annual buys exceeding $50 million. The position will be located in Dallas (Texas) or Whitehall (Michigan). Reporting to the Director of Purchasing NA will be the: Purchasing Manager Whitehall division and Purchasing Manager Dallas division. Principal Accountabilities: • Identifying capable suppliers, initiating supplier partnerships, and developing supplier certification programs • Fully supporting strategies and tactics of Corporate Purchasing • Supporting key strategies for major Lines of Business and aligning purchasing strategies linked to the LOB strategy. • Setting the stage for competitive biddings/negotiations. • Execute approaches to supplier price productivity. • Manage supplier performance evaluation programs. • Interpreting supplier financial statements and performance measures. • Key role in insourcing/outsourcing decisions. • Qualify suppliers and maintain approved supplier lists. • Jointly define preferred suppliers for early involvement with Corporate Purchasing and Engineering. • Following terms and conditions of Corporate Purchasing agreements for capital equipment expenditures. Negotiating terms and conditions of capital equipment expenditures not covered by Corporate Purchasing. • Optimizing the Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies (MRO) procurement process. • Identify cost elements and opportunities for reducing costs through cost modelling • Contract management • Utilization of eCommerce resources Knowledge/Skills required: • Experience in cooperating on a global level in a cross functional organization. • Ability to source suppliers globally and to realize cost savings by global sourcing • Global experience in focusing on selected preferred supply base. • Ability to use information technology effectively • Global experience in reducing the supplier base • Ability to set both tactical and strategic goals and objectives • Experience in the deployment of supplier full demand pull systems • Broad knowledge of current/future materials and technologies • Keen awareness of global trends for raw materials and technologies • Demonstrates high credibility/sound ethical judgement • Works effective with managers outside the procurement function • Ability to influence others without direct authority • Communicates effectively in writing and orally • Experience in budgetary processes • Working knowledge of the various laws affecting the operation/duties of the procurement organization • Stretches subordinates to fullest potential • Holds purchasing certification o Accredited Purchasing Practioner (A.P.P.) o Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) o National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) Certified in Production and Inventory Management Experience/Education: • Minimum 10 years supply chain management experience with automotive related suppliers producing highly engineered products • Bachelor’s degree required • MBA highly desirable This is an opportunity with a prestigious company.
