"Our client, one of the ten major private oil and gas companies in the world, operating in more than 28 countries, leader in Spain and the largest private energy company in Latin America in terms of assets, needs to incorporate a: Environmental Coordinator with fluent English, Algeria The Environmental Coordinator should assist the HSE Manager in implementing the Safety, Hygiene and Environment Management System in the projects with a strong focus on Environment subjects. Coordinate emergency response teams, in the case of occurrence of environmental emergencies as required by the HSE Manager and UNAR Management. • Ensure that environmental issues are an integral part of the responsibilities of line management and part of its objectives. • Monitor outsourced environmental studies to ensure their quality and adherence to law. • Develop, implement, disseminate and maintain plans, programs and environmental procedures. Including Environmental Emergency Response Plans. • Coordinate and supervise environmental studies and authorizations required by the local and national’s laws and regulations (Scope of works, bidding process, development, etc). • Ensure that workplace procedures comply with local environmental regulations, guidelines and International standards, keeping them updated. • Ensure that environmental indicators are accurately reported and reviewed in a monthly basis. • Check that all environmental events are properly reported and investigated if required (following matrix). • Keep information of any new development, updating laws, regulations, rules, standards, environmental engineering, and report to management and relevant staff within the business unit. • Assist the operational line: a. Supervision of environmental objectives. b. Communication of environmental issues to contractors, subcontractors and communities. c. Identification of environmental risks in each area and work center. d. Develop and maintain plans, programs and procedures as specified in the environmental standard. • Establish and maintain programs for sewage and other discharges in the operations and work centers. • Perform assessments of contractors in waste management. • Monitor and advice investigations related to environmental accidents and incidents. Stimulate employees and contractors to report dangerous environmental situations. • Develop and maintain high levels of awareness among all staff trough communications, training and active participation of employees and contractors in the prevention and reporting of non compliance. • Develop and maintain a specific training package regarding plans, programs and environmental procedures. • Support the management of operations in compliance with internal and external programs. • Develop a constructive relationship with local environmental regulatory authorities. • Verify compliance with the preventive measures, mitigation and restoration contained in the environmental authorization. • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of waste management systems in every operation and work center business unit, including contractors and subcontractors. • Coordinate the preparation of environmental risk assessments. • Carry out environmental inspections on a regular basis. • Participate in visits scheduled by government agencies (Sonatrach, Ministry of Environment, ARH, ALNAFT, etc.). • Ensure the follow up and closure of any deviations found during inspections and audits. Requirements: • Excellent knowledge of Algerian environmental laws and regulations, requirements of the Ministry of Environment, ALNAFT, ARH and Algerian authorities. • Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OSHA 18001 standards.
