"Terminologist: Laboratory Messaging The St. John Group, a Health IT consultancy, is looking for a Terminologist to join our Laboratory Technical Assistance Team (TAT). The TAT assists local Laboratories in implementing electronic data exchange to other state and federal partners. The TAT consists of a Project Manager, Technical Architect and Terminologist who analyses the current status of the lab and provides assistance in developing HL7 messages. The successful Terminologist candidate should have an excellent knowledge of laboratory and/or scientific terminology, an understanding of laboratory testing methods, knowledge of vocabulary standards (e.g. LOINC, SNOMED, HL7....), knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems and be willing to travel up to 75%. Excellent organizational skills are a required. Public health experience is a plus. Must have hands-on experience working in a laboratory. Travel is up to 3 to 4 days per week every second week. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform detailed assessment of laboratories use of nationally recognized vocabulary standards (current coding procedures) • Educate laboratory on LOINC and SNOMED vocabulary and HL7 coding • Provide vocabulary mapping services to the laboratory where appropriate • Advise and assist laboratories on the proper use of vocabulary tools • Identify gaps in resources and needed expertise to complete mapping of local codes to implementation specific codes. • Assists laboratory in developing their project activity plan in accordance with priorities and need • Work with team to identify gaps in current resources, recommendations for added or reconfigured resources • Work with rest team to develop realistic project milestones and timelines • Ensure that any post visit questions are answered and any issues or risks identified during visit are documented and resolved • Inform and educate the larger vocabulary team regarding issues and lessons learned from laboratory support • Work with the vocabulary team to maintain the vocabulary and vocabulary tools"
