"Our Client, a publically traded Canadian mining company focused on gold exploration and mining in South Eastern Manitoba, is looking for an Accounting Professional to fill the role of Director of Reporting Systems. The position is located in Winnipeg and will require travel to the mine site on a monthly basis. The successful candidate will hold overall responsibility in the areas of mining operations accounting, costing and management reporting. Working with the entire management team, this role requires exceptional cost accounting, management, consulting and team development skills. This role will coordinate and oversee all aspects of mine site accounting, cost analysis and management reporting and IT systems. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Chief Operations Officer the successful candidate’s responsibilities include the following: Responsibilities: • Direct, participate and administer the preparation of the financial and operational reports and annual budgets in accordance with corporate guidelines and GAAP/IFRS. • Mentor, coach, train and oversee the development of individuals within the administrative and supply chain groups including the on-site accountant, payroll clerk, accounts payable clerk and IT network administrator. • Counsel and support management on key purchasing, warehousing, information systems and operational accounting issues. • Organize, direct and champion overall goals for the administrative functions and the establishment and revision of compliant site specific policies and procedures. • Assist in ensuring the procurement, ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of IT hardware and software. • Provide monthly cost summary reports to allow users to measure performance, indentify trends, shortcomings and areas of improvement to enable pro-active management decisions. • Prepare the monthly mine site management reporting package and variance analysis • Manage the development, implementation, improvement and preparation of mining cost reports and operational management reports. • Develop and maintain an efficient and effective cost and expenditure monitoring control system. • Prepare and present ad hoc reports and information as required by the COO • Manage and review reporting for various projects and the reconciliation of project costing to external reports. • Oversee the development of processes and standards to ensure that the reporting systems accurately represent the results of mining operations. • Develop strong working relationships with mine management and staff in order to facilitate operational improvements. • Coordinate with the Corporate Controller to ensure complete and accurate accounting and documentation for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. • Ensure that the monthly close is timely, complete and accurate. • Work closely with the Corporate Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer to meet both the internal and external reporting requirements and internal control compliance. Qualifications: • Professional accounting designation ( CMA, CA, CGA). • 5 years progressive cost accounting experience – mining background an asset. • Above average communication and organizational skills with superior attention to detail. • Understanding of and ability to work comfortably in a multi-cultural environment; • Excellent leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills. • Familiarity with Lean, ISO, and Payroll functions an asset. • Information Technology savvy, strong computer software, analytical and problem solving skills. • Able to travel and to work flexible hours.
