Position Description: Wireless network engineer needed to support vendor solution for temperature tags and electronic shelf tags project. Create support procedures and documentation to field support calls by cross-training with appropriate network team engineers. Identify and help resolve project-related technical issues. Assist with other wireless projects, including proof of technology to offer in-store wireless to customers, support of 2 stores that are configured for the proof of technology. Learn how the access point infrastructure in the proof of technology works, assist in testing and certification of the system for deployment in new stores. Essential Job Functions: • Triage, diagnose and remediate wireless network problems using existing troubleshooting documents as well as own knowledge of networking equipment and operations • Create new resolution procedures to build the knowledge base following the departmental standards with assistance/direction from the technical teams. • Provide Sys Change support and/or execute Sys Changes with the guidance from Network Engineers • Possess a solid working knowledge of the support areas assigned, as well as a good knowledge of peripheral support areas assigned to the team. • Recognize and appropriately escalate high priority incidents quickly to proper level 3 team • Display solid technical proficiency in network support. Requirements: • 5 or more years experience in network support and/or network engineering role • Extensive experience with TCP/IP networks • Expertise in troubleshooting 802.11 wireless networks • Understanding of / experience with wireless intrusion detection/ protection systems (WIPS) • Familiarity with HP ProCurve switching technology or equivalent network switching equipment • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environment • Experience with 802.15.4 Zigbee wireless networks and/or other low power mesh networking technologies • Proven ability to understand company business problems and identify viable technical solutions to those problems • Flexible/able to work in and adjust to a rapidly changing environment • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and to all levels within the organization • Good customer service skills required • Highly motivated and service oriented • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills • Desire to learn new technologies • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written"
