"Hiring a Systems Engineer in Houston, TX Systems Engineer Houston, TX          Full Time   Description:   Manage a large scale enterprise storage environment that includes disk, tape, and Storage Area Network (400+ TB) Work on a SAN utilizing Brocade F/C switches and storage arrays from NetApp, EMC, Hitachi and IBM Manage the Backup Environment using Symantec NetBackup Work as part of the Enterprise Storage Team providing technical support for a large organization   Duties and Responsibilities:  Builds and supports advanced storage infrastructure services and dependent applications. Coordinates with IT development, support, and project teams to determine storage infrastructure requirements. Leads storage capacity planning and technology renewal to maintain a high level of responsiveness and service availability. Monitors resolution of storage service disruptions and implementation of preventative measures. Prepares reports and presentations as necessary.  Coordinates communication between peers, team, business owners and management. Installs, configures, tests and implements storage management software and hardware. Provides effective storage allocation and identifies backup, recovery, archival procedures. Makes recommendations to ensure continuous improvement in performance of storage infrastructure. Develops and implements advanced business continuity practices for storage management. Monitors, maintains, and provides advanced operations support for enterprise data storage systems to ensure data integrity, availability and security. Maintains and modifies complicated backup and recovery procedures to meet high availability and business objectives. Maintains tape library backup systems and disaster recovery sites and disaster recovery procedures. Troubleshoots complex storage related issues and takes corrective action as needed. Ensures storage solutions and support procedures meet minimum requirements for e-Discovery (the identification, preservation and collection of electronically stored information related to litigation).   Qualifications   Education and Experience: Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or similar area of study.  Five years of previous experience required.  Four years of related experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree. Preferred:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS and minimum seven years of related experience.   Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required: Management and deployment of NetApp Storage Arrays. Experience with Symantec Netbackup and LTO Tape Libraries. Knowledge and understanding of network, operating systems, Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and tape backup solutions. Understanding of designing and implementing enterprise storage solutions and shared directory structures. Knowledge of NetApp data storage equipment. Familiarity with Enterprise Virtualization including VMWare ESX, Xen, and/or KVM. Understanding of Enterprise Storage (High Availability NAS, SAN). Knowledge of enterprise provisioning, management, and automation tools. Expertise in multiple system environments. Networking, storage and systems administration. Understanding of UNIX and Windows to facilitate provisioning/troubleshooting of storage. Ability to work on multiple products, activities and projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. Ability to design/maintain scripts on UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms. Ability to deliver under stress and handle critical situations.   Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities that Contribute to Success: Knowledge of IBM San Volume Controllers. Experience with Hitachi AMS Storage Arrays. Experience with EMC DMX and VMAX storage Arrays. Experience with IBM DS8xxx storage arrays. Knowledge of HP Storage Essentials and DCFM.
