"Job: Regional Education Lead in Barrie, ON Canada Job Summary: Reporting to the Coordinator; Prevention, Screening & Education, the Regional Education Lead (REL) will utilize evidence and best practice to develop and implement comprehensive education strategies that are responsive to the identified needs of cancer patients and their families, as well as staff at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program (SMRCP) and other cancer care providers in LHIN 12. Advanced preparation and experience in adult education principles and cancer service delivery enables the REL to bridge the gap between theory, standards and practice. This role facilitates the work of the Regional Cancer Program through knowledge transfer, information dissemination and networking. The REL works within a team environment to foster and support interprofessional collaboration and sharing of patient and staff education expertise. Responsibilities include: -Development, implementation and evaluation of an annual cancer education work plan for the SMRCP to align with goals and priorities of Cancer Care Ontario -Facilitation of regional program development through the coordination of continuing medical education and professional development opportunities -Development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive patient education strategy that promotes patient-centred care along the cancer journey -Ongoing support of regional engagement initiatives -Development and maintenace of strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholder, community and provincial partners Job Qualifications:   Education: I.Undergraduate degree in a health and/or education-related discipline Experience: I.In-depth understanding of the complexities of the Ontario Cancer System, Ontario Cancer Plan and Cancer 2020 vision. Working knowledge of LHIN 12 and the relevant stakeholders involved in cancer care. Comprehension of the structure of a Regional Cancer Program and the importance of education for both patients and families, and staff. The understanding that strategic directions of the provincial and regional systems drive the operational changes at the district and local level. II.Knowledge and expertise in conducting comprehensive needs assessments/environmental scans to guide program planning, implementation and evaluation. III.The understanding that the quality of patient care is related to both staff and patient education IV.Professional experience/leadership role in a health care and/or education setting V.Experience in adult education principles and delivery VI.Experience in cancer care and knowledge of the cancer journey VII.Experience with project management and budget planning Competencies: I.Demonstrated skills related to critical thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking and evidence-based practice II.Originality in methods and solutions to address education within cancer care III.Excellent communication skills (i.e. written, consultative, verbal and presentation) IV.Ability to work in diverse environments; both collaborating and motivating multiple groups and stakeholders with varying levels of education, maturity and skill set, while also working effectively on independent projects V.Time management skills VI.Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Visio, Publisher) VII.Demonstrated professionalism http://bull.hn/l/F23A/2"
