If you are available and interested, or know someone else who may be looking, please contact us at career@microagility.com Title: Solutions/Systems Architect Location: New York, NY Type: Corp to Corp/1099 or W2 Rate: DOE Duration: Long-term engagement Job ID: 2009a-001SA JOB DESCRIPTION The systems architect establishes the basic structure of the system, defining the essential core design features and elements that provide the framework for all that follows, and are the hardest to change later. The systems architect provides the architects view of the users' vision for what the system needs to be and do, and the paths along which it must be able to evolve, and strives to maintain the integrity of that vision as it evolves during detailed design and implementation. Responsibilities: - IT planning and optimization - Build an effective IT portfolio by identifying areas for consolidation and reuse and unlocking operational budgets required to fund program. - Work with program manager to maintain business efficiency - Execute business transformation that helps eliminate organizational waste, resulting in increased productivity. - Service architecture management - Construct effective solutions out of enterprise and business elements that may create new or updated elements that can be used in future projects. - More-effective management of systems of systems - Evaluate architectures across multiple systems, perform capability analysis planning and help maximize funding. - Leverage one multi-user environment with support for all areas of modeling, including business and strategy modeling, component and object modeling, data modeling, and more - Interface with the user(s) and sponsor(s) and all other stakeholders in order to determine their (evolving) needs. - Work with the Project manager to perform cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components. - Develop partitioning algorithms (and other processes) to allocate all present and foreseeable requirements into discrete partitions such that a minimum of communications is needed among partitions, and between the user and the system. - Partition large systems into (successive layers of) subsystems and components each of which can be handled by a single engineer or team of engineers or subordinate architect. - Work with the project manager, design and developers, so that any problems arising during design or implementation can be resolved in accordance with the fundamental design concepts, and user needs and constraints. Experience required: - Experience with IBM Web sphere Portal - Lotus Notes and Domino - Experience with Linux & Windows Software - Experience with Mac Hardware - Experience with IBM DB2 - Extensive knowledge of Cloud Environments & Integrations - Understanding of Agile environments and iterative delivery - Experience working with offshore teams - Experience working with project management governance Desirable: - Insurance or Mortgage Industry background - ITIL Certification - IBM Certification - Java, Lotus Script, other languages Referral Bonus: If you refer a qualified candidate for this position, I would be very happy to pay you a referral bonus $1000 - $2000 for a successful placement.
