Senior Oracle DBA / Architect in Denver, CO Sr. Database Engineer/Architect - Denver, CO - 3 months Plus Contract Description Sr. Database Engineer/Architect position provides all aspects of architecture, design and implementation for complex Oracle-based database solutions employing Oracle RAC 10g and 11g.   The responsibilities of this position will include, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following: • Providing technical expertise to design most efficient and cost effective solutions for Oracle-based database systems • Capacity planning, sizing and designing • Providing DBA support for development and QA databases • Providing Tier-3 support and subject matter expertise for production databases • Defining backup/recovery strategies and database standards • Defining consolidation deployment methodologies and cost-effective solutions for Oracle RAC • Automating repetitive tasks • Advanced performance tuning • Advanced troubleshooting and problem determination   Required skills:   • In-depth expertise with Oracle DBMS and Oracle RAC • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate concepts • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent troubleshooting and problem determination skills • Advance performance and SQL tuning skills • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux OS and storage subsystems • Excellent shell scripting skills • Experience with data replication using Oracle Streams and Data Guard   Please see below for additional notes from manager: 1) This position is not for an Operations DBA, Database Developer or Application DBA 2) It’s for database engineering department which requires in-depth technical expertise with the relevant RDBMS (in this case Oracle).
