Senior Metallurgy Engineer in Anderson, IN Job Summary: The Senior Metallurgy Engineer plans, schedules, initiates, and conducts and coordinates engineering assignments related to their designated engineering field:  manufacturing, industrial, quality, product, etc. for engineering operations at Remy International.  The Senior Metallurgy Engineer will be the technical liaison for various organizational units, will review progress of projects and evaluate results, makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary in the development of Remy International products. The Senior Metallurgy Engineer has a strong understanding of engineering theory and can apply their knowledge to the products.   Job Duties & Responsibilities: Plans, schedules, initiates, and conducts or coordinates engineering assignments related to designated engineering field:  manufacturing, industrial, quality, product, etc. Maintains liaison with various organizational units; reviews progress and evaluated results; makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary. Confers with other engineers to resolve problems Identifies problems and offers solutions Participates in and may lead cross-functional project teams Assists in metallurgical study, development, testing and analyses of designs, processes or procedures. Reports on metallurgical or process issues and makes recommendations to product engineering on how to resolve/correct the issues. Reviews and recommends new or enhances metallurgical testing equipment or protocols. Contributes to the improvement of metallurgical process. Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment. Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state, and federal regulations. Assists with the development, integration, and tuning of process control systems. Utilizes excellent communication and listening skills   Job Requirements & Skills: Minimum 5 years experience in engineering is required Bachelors Degree in engineering is required or equivalent, proven work experience typically gained through 10-15 years in a technical / engineering-related role. Strong understanding of engineering theory; related to designated engineering field with the ability to apply knowledge to assigned tasks Strong analytical, statistical and problem solving skills Comprehensive knowledge of plant operations and processes Product/program management skill; ability to solve complex problems that require considerable judgment  Strong technical skills:  manufacturing, product development, supplier interaction and statistical skills Extensive knowledge of metrics, competitive benchmarks, and standards High manufacturing engineering and product development technical skills Works under general supervision Capacity to gather requirements and thoroughly translate into specific tasks and action items and relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex and numberous. Knowledge of the principles and methods used in complex metallurgical and processing analyses. Must demonstrate computer literacy (Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) Oral and written communication skills with interpersonal abilities to work effectively with others. Proficient in Windows environment and associated PC software. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
