"Now Hiring: Quality Control / Continuous Improvement Engineer in Illinois Job Description: The primary role of the Quality Control/Continuous Improvement Engineer is to facilitate continuous improvement throughout the product realization lifecycle; including support to new product design development, manufacturing, assembly, testing and inspection. This includes the supervision of the inspection staff and the Operations Quality Engineer. Primary Responsibilities: Establish, monitor and maintain all appropriate quality programs, procedures and inspection methodologies to assure compliance to specifications. Ensure that established systems/procedures/protocols are adequate to provide for consistent product quality. Utilize Continuous Improvement tools (e.g. pareto/trend analyses, SPC, Kaizen), and collect and analyze data (metrics, audits, defect reports, etc) to develop improvement strategies. Act as change agent, challenging the organization to continuously improve. Promote continuous improvement throughout the organization. Support contract review and new product design initiatives to ensure customer quality requirements are achievable, planned for and executed. Drive the organization to systematically use structured methods and tools for problem solving and quality improvements (e.g. 5 Whys/8D analyses, error proofing, PFMEAs, control plans). Supervise, guide and evaluate the staff required to achieve quality objectives. Provide training to staff, document employee performance, and provide recommendations for development. Coordinate inspection activities; scheduling work assignments and setting priorities. Work closely with the Customer Quality Engineer to support timely problem resolution of customer issues where causes are traced to manufacturing related operations. Oversee the Material Review Board process to ensure timely disposition of nonconforming product. Provide technical expertise and leadership to quality inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. Responsible for the design and preparation of regular performance reports in support of Quality Management Systems and Operations (pareto, DPPM, first pass yield, etc.). Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above. Qualifications: Strong knowledge and proficiency in the use of process control tools (SPC, Process Capability, PFMEA, Process Control Plans, etc.). Thorough knowledge in the systematic approach to corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 5 Why's, etc.). Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality management system requirements. Solid command in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Power point experience is preferred. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, adhering to strict deadlines and commitments.
