Job Description • Provide technical expertise in the areas of development, testing and production scale-up of packaging components and systems. • Recognize packaging regulatory/government requirements, and under the supervision of an assigned Manager, recommend course of action to maintain compliance. • Be familiar with package testing requirements (laboratory and packaging line tests), and interpret results and translate into necessary actions. • Evaluate existing packaging, and lead troubleshooting in the resolution of packaging related issues in design, testing, and manufacturing. • Determine and coordinate physical testing to ensure product and package integrity for manufacturing through end user. • Under the supervision of an assigned Manager, recommend and implement equipment / testing procedures / technology / standards in the area of Package Development. • Report on project or activity issues and progress to Management through the use of verbal communication, timelines, written correspondence, etc. Major Responsibilities • Support of existing packaging personnel’s projects, where appropriate, to provide for short term reassignments to free up McNeil personnel for development of acceptable processes and procedures in the areas of package development, testing, and specifications. (10-12/2012) • Accurate identification of remediation gaps for package development documentation, testing, and specifications. (2013) • Remediation of package testing and documentation to new Standards and procedures. (through 2014 if necessary) Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Package Engineering or related Engineering/Technical discipline (i.e. Mechanical, Materials Science, etc.) Experience/ Technical Competencies: A. Required Education/Training and/or Experience: 2 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, with experience working with packaging test methods and equipment preferred. B. Required Skills/Abilities: Experience in writing technical documentation is required. Broad knowledge and experience with packaging test methods (e.g. ASTM, ISTA etc.) is preferred. Experience working in a GMP regulated environment including knowledge of GMP’s GLP’s, and SOPs, is required. Effective communication skills with all levels, time management skills and strong computer skills are required. Job Knowledge/Skillsets: Experience working in a cross functional, fast-paced environment is required. A highly motivated individual with strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to partner effectively across functions and levels is required.
