"Manufacturing Engineer for our Paint Service Operations in Sanford, NC. We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our Paint Service Operations in Sanford, NC. This operation supports a major Fortune 500 Valspar customer that manufactures building construction products. The paint service operation works multiple shifts, employs approximately 60 employees, and coats machinery parts for assembly at this facility. If you are interested in working for a leading Fortune 1000 company that values innovation and results, then read on. Job responsibilities include the following: o Manages engineering projects - includes design, bids, addressing permit issues, equipment purchases, contractor oversight, and implementing new processes and procedures for continuous improvement. o Develops, analyzes and reviews a variety of operational reports across the functions to improve quality, efficiency, cycle times, volumes, and implements operational changes as required. o Supervises various special or unique projects that involve the application of fundamental engineering or operational principles and practices. o Develops operating policies and procedures to ensure the efficient use of resources, maintain a safe environment, and produce quality products. o Participates in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques. o Works with maintenance and other departments to optimize the equipment performance, quality, customer satisfaction, and reliability. Job and Skills Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. • Five or more year's experience in a manufacturing environment. • Experience with paint application systems, spray operations, and finishing a plus. • Knowledge of paint and finish chemistry preferred. • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, optimization, and other process improvement processes. • Working knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance. • Strong communications skills. Additional Desired Qualifications and Skills (these skills are a benefit, not required): • Experience in pretreatment and E-coat operations • Building product, or similar manufacturing industry experience. • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher. • Experience working in a Focused Factory operation.
