DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Identify opportunities through discussions with customers and sales & marketing personnel •Determine fitness-for-use criteria for specific applications through a combination of empirical, experimental, and modeling methods •Reduce the fitness-for-use criteria to fundamental polymer characteristics using your knowledge of polymer structure-property relationships •Determine if a suitable solution is available or if a new product is needed •Propose a course of action based on the analysis Qualifications: •Ph.D. in Polymer Science from an accredited college or university •5-10 years of industry experience •Application research and development experience in areas related to engineering plastics •Strong working knowledge in a broad range of polymer science skills including: structure-property relationships, polymer characterization, and polymer processing •In-depth extrusion experience •Project management experience •Strong interpersonal and communication skills •Ability to champion your own ideas but also be open to ideas of others •Scientific curiosity This is a melt spinning process"
