"My client in the financial services industry is looking for a full time, permanent employee to join their team! DESCRIPTION: The Windows Desktop Technician will be responsible for providing technical support as it applies to the operating systems, hardware, or network infrastructure. The individual is expected to participate in troubleshooting complex technical support issues as part of an energetic, enthusiastic and highly experienced team of professional support engineers. The individual will also be expected to participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and prototyping of new solutions as they pertain to day to day operations and/or as a project deliverable. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: · Support production application environments. · Administer and support all aspects of the LAN/WAN environment including security. · Manage and maintain proprietary developed and 3rd party monitoring tools. · Support all aspects of public internet service environment and related infrastructure. · Support and manage client connectivity solutions. · Support and manage Internet connectivity including VPN connectivity and Security. · Assist with network upgrades, maintenance and support for network infrastructure. · Administer and support all aspects of Windows Desktop environment. · Install, configure and maintain desktop hardware. · Manage and maintain daily backups · Support corporate email/messaging, backup, instant messaging, database, disaster recovery and compliance environments. TECHNICAL HARDWARE/SKILLS/CONCEPTS: · Basic Networking Protocols: FTP, DNS, Putty/Telnet, VLAN concepts, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP · Windows Destkop and Server OS · Active Directory · Microsoft Exchange/ Outlook · MS-SQL · Citrix MetaFrame · Cisco switches (patching/port identification) · POTS/T1/DS3 · VPN/RSA technology · Internet Proxy · HP, Lenovo, Compaq · Blackberry & Iphones · Symantec Archive · Trend Micro · Sunbelt Counterspy · LanDesk Management Suite · Acronis · Veritas BackupExec/Netbackup · VMWare ESX , GSX and Virtual Center · ITSM - Frontrange Solutions (ticket system) EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: · B.S. Degree in MIS, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent technical discipline · 3 + years experience in an IT Engineering role · Works under broad supervision · MUST have financial services background!
