POSITION SUMMARY: This is a ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC opportunity to join a great non-union manufacturing company in Houston. We are looking for a “hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves, blue-collar HR pro who loves to train, who has solid generalist skills, and yet has the ability to be strategic when needed.” The HR Manager will be responsible for ensuring that sound HR Policies are implemented and followed, that appropriate training is carried out, and that the corporate HR objectives are on track across several plants. Pay is excellent at $100-$130K (PLUS BONUS), and there is a solid relocation package available for the winning applicant. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HR MANAGER •Be a strong HR Generalist and Manager in the area of HR, building and maintaining relationships that foster trust, commitment, and teamwork throughout the organization and the plants under your responsibility (aka: non-union labor relations proficiency) •Make sure that all corporate and legal issues are appropriately trained and implemented at the plant level (provides oversight to several plants). •Heavy involvement in recruitment and retention. •Assist in the design and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and practices. •Support general HR programs including training, employment law compliance, compensation and benefits administration, recruiting, new hire orientation, employee relations, and performance management among others. •Audit HR practices, pay ranges, and stay abreast of current trends and ranges. REQUIREMENTS FOR HR MANAGER •You must be a “hands-on” doer. Someone who likes working from their office simply will not work here. We are looking for the person who does the training and implementation to the plant floor and who has very strong relations skills with the workforce. If you know most of your plant people…you may just be right for this job! •Bachelor's degree required. PHR or SPHR a feather in your cap. •Must have 5+ years previous HR Management experience in a labor intense and industrial manufacturing environment (as opposed to insurance, food, banking, etc…) •Must have proven expertise in designing and implementing training programs. •Knowledge of employment laws and practical experience implementing procedures to comply with laws and regulations. •Experience establishing wage guidelines. •Experience establishing corporate HR Policies. •Significant experience dealing with HR issues, terminations, etc. •This is a moderate travel position (usually less than 15%, but some weeks you might have to travel for a few days (regionally). Must be willing to travel up to 40%."
