Purpose and Functions: This role is to support the cost estimating aspect of the Programme Controls Systems within the Thames Tunnel Project. The estimator will work along side the cost manager(s), schedule manager and risk and change manager. The role will be responsible for ensuring that all estimating data is seamlessly integrated with schedule, scope, risk and change to allow for strong Programme Controls. Responsibilities and Duties: Estimating activities required to meet the objectives of the project Production of quantity take-offs from CAD drawings in line with standard methods of measurement (CESMM) Liaison with procurement function and supply chain to develop and maintain a master database of labour, materials, plant and subcontract rates specific to the project Estimating project costs, including direct labour, materials, permanent equipment and construction activities utilising Timberline Estimating software platform Production and control of a detailed 'basis of estimate' file for each estimate produced, including reference to all source information, drawings, criteria, schedules used in the preparation of the estimate, along with all assumptions, qualifications and exclusions. Support preparation of Change Control requests from a cost point of view. Support and validate risk evaluation from a cost point of view Review and develop cost trends Reports To: Lead estimator / Head of Programme Controls Personal Qualifications: Fellow or Member of the RICS Estimating experience on major Civil Engineering projects [including tunnelling, shaft sinking and/or marine projects] Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business or Construction Management Previous experience with Timberline Estimating software.
