A current New York State registration to practice nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing are required. A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in a Burn Intensive Care Unit is required, including both adult and pediatric care. Certification in clinical specialty by professional organization preferred. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice nurse who demonstrates expert clinical knowledge and skill in a specialty area. As an expert in a specialty area, the CNS assesses, evaluates, and recommends Standards of Care as it relates to the patient and family along the health care continuum.
