"Dear Group Member, We are looking for a consultant with specialization in Oracle and MS SQL Server’s database administration and maintenance for a client engagement. Title: DBA Oracle and MS SQL Server Location: New York, NY Rate: $70/hr on Corp to Corp/1099 Duration: Long Term Job ID: 1301b-001DBA JOB DESCRIPTION This position is a mid level and the DBA is required to work one day a week on demand at client office. The client is flexible for the day of the week. The DBA is expected to work with our client’s IT team for the maintenance and other related work. Client has Oracle 11g installed on Windows 2003 server. Services will be delivered Monday-Friday for 8-hours per week. Additional hours may be requested by the Client at their discretion. Tasks are included but not limited to: Oracle 10g/11g Databases - Installation and configuration of Oracle 10g/11g server and creation of databases on Unix and Windows server Systems. - Create and configure Oracle Databases using both the DBCA and manually using database creation scripts. - Creating users, schemes, table spaces and other database object such as tables, indexes, views etc. - Reorganize and restructure existing company’s Databases to meet OFA standards and for performance optimization. - Performing database monitoring and maintenance activities such as checking alert logs, undo management, space management, database locking concerns, scheduling of jobs in crontab/AT, gathering database statistics - Database Security: Using TDE, password or Dual-mode Encryption - Migrating and upgrading the Oracle 10g database to Oracle 11g. - Design, test, implement and documented database migration procedures using the export/import migration utility and SQL Loader & External Tables. - Configuring standby database using data guard on testing server.Resizing, relocating and duplexing/Multiplexing redo logs files/control files to either reduce log switching or eliminate contention. MS SQL 2005 Functions and Tasks - Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. - Install and configure systems such as supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications. - Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. Maintenance - Configure / add new services as necessary. - Security Updates deployment on production servers. - Monitoring Event Logs (Application, System & Security) and take appropriate action to fix errors or warnings if found. - Fix issues raised by client Information Security Governance. Experience: - 5 Oracle DBA Experience - 4 years of SQL/Oracle - Should have MS SQL 2005 and 2008 experience Referral Bonus: If you refer a qualified candidate for this position, I would be very happy to pay you a referral bonus $1000 - $2000 for a successful placement.
