The company securely delivers faster more convenient transactions for small and large merchants across virtually any mobile device. Job Opportunity: The Database Administrator has responsibility for the design, installation, maintenance, security, and support of database environments. As a member of the global IT Infrastructure and Operations team, the DBA will work across project and application development teams on new and existing projects supporting 24x7 operations. The DBA will work in a cross-functional environment provisioning, configuring, securing, and maintaining these environments in a fast paced, growing entrepreneurial environment. Responsibilities: - Install and maintain SQL Server in Production, Development, QA and Stage environments - Evaluate, test and deploy new releases, patches, and upgrades related to the database management system - Perform database administration including; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and testing of disaster recovery procedures - Implement scripts to automate routine database administration tasks including database restores to development, QA and stage environments - Proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues - Review database design and integration of systems and make recommendations for enhancements or improvements - Maintain a secure environment across all application environments including data scrubbing - Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions - Adhere to business and technical requirements throughout the database design and development process - Perform regular monitoring of user access and security logs - Ensure high availability and uptime of production databases - Monitor and optimize of performance including working with development teams to provide efficient, fast-query responses - Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security - Ensure backup, recovery, archiving, and database integrity Requirements: - 3 to 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment or related experience. - Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 - Experience implementing scripts to automate routine database administration tasks - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Expertise working with and supporting high availability SQL Server environments, including experience with replication and failover clustering - Experience managing large SQL server databases over 100 GB - Experience managing SQL server databases in a virtualized environment - Experience with tuning query performance, examining execution plans, using traces and other performance diagnostic tools - Understanding of database design/application architecture - Understanding of database design principals - Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task - Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills - Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language - Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and practices, including planning, testing, backup/restore - Commitment to deadlines and willingness to meet the needs of 24x7 environment - Willingness to learn and adapt quickly; Self learning and self-supporting - Experience in a software development environment a plus - Team Player - Other duties as required Contact: Beth Cliff / Redfish Technology IT Engineering Recruitment Manager O: 401.398.2929 E: beth[at]redfishtech[dot]com L: www.linkedin.com/pub/beth-cliff/5/2b8/130 F: www.facebook.com/RedfishTech T: twitter.com/RedfishTech N: tinyurl.com/ylmtqqc/ W: www.redfishtech.com Leading Recruiters in IT and Clean Tech"
