"Hiring a VMware Engineer in Houston, TX Contract VMWare Engineer Overview: Individual contributor position responsible for maintaining the integrity of the operating system environment. Responsibilities: -Responsible for maintaining and supporting the SCCM infrastructure and clients. -Responsible for adherence to all production PSP processes -Responsible for developing and maturing the automation infrastructure to Top Quartile Standards -Responsible for the evaluation of new desktop computing technologies, requiring the ability to quickly and independently learn new technologies. -Responsible for the re-packing of applications according to standards for software packaging. -Responsible for virtualizing applications via VMware ThinApp, Microsoft App-V or similar industry standard tools. -Basic knowledge of VMware desktop virtualization technology, including VMware View and VSphere. -Create and maintain the corporate base image and imaging processing via SCCM. -Intermediate knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy; ability to create, maintain and troubleshoot group policy for the enterprise. -Responsible for providing reporting on computing environment, requiring intermediate knowledge of SCCM report development and SQL scripting. -Manage or independently implement large scale, enterprise-wide deployments. -Manage small to medium size technology projects, collaborating with cross functional IT teams and buesinss representatives. -Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the following software or its equivalent: oVMware View 4.x oVSphere 4 oMicrosoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 and related tools. oMicrosoft desktop deployment tools and MS Desktop Optimization Pack tools. o Application Virtualization Technologies (App-V, ThinApp or similar) oWise Package Studio, Setup Factory or similar packaging application. oVB Scripting experience; SQL scripting knowledge. -Maintain SLP (Service Level Partnerships) with business units -Intermediate knowledge of networking concepts (i.e. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), DNS (Domain Name Service)) -Basic knowledge of server and storage hardware and software in an enterprise environment. ¿ Perform administrative functions related to support and project activities. -Prepare and communicate status, issues, and opportunities to management. -Escalate issues with vendors and external organizations.
