"Severstal North America, a major Dearborn-based steel producer in the United States and a wholly-owned subsidiary of OAO Severstal, one of the world’s largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, is seeking a Product Applications Engineer. The Company has been in the steel manufacturing business for more than seventy years and produces a variety of high quality, flat-rolled carbon steel products, including hot rolled, cold rolled and electro-galvanized steel. Severstal is a major supplier to the automotive industry and became the first integrated Steel Company in the world to achieve QS-9000 certification. Due to our ongoing commitment to quality and our expanded capacity, Severstal has the following challenging and exciting opportunity for a Product Applications Engineer. Position Requirements • Minimum bachelor’s degree (preferred Master’s degree) in mechanical engineering • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in body structure design • OEM Experience (preferably Ford, GM or Chrysler with strong contacts) • BIW and Closures experience • Experience in crash durability and/or NVH simulations • Familiar with NASTRAN, Abaqus, Hypermesh, LS-DYNA • Have good communication skills • Self-starter and work with little direction • Ability to obtain, manage, and run projects for OEM’s as a tier one supplier to achieve mass and cost reductions in the body structure.
