Due to our ongoing commitment to quality and our expanded capacity, Severstal has the following challenging and exciting opportunity for an SEM Lab Metallurgist. Position Responsibilities: 1. Manage SEM Lab equipment and consumables 2. Lead studies related to product development – grain size & microstructure analysis 3. Establish methodologies for different modes of defect analysis 4. Expand the scope of SEM use to different possible analytical functions 5. Perform SEM analysis for inclusion rating on steels, as needed 6. Champion in coordinating SEM studies to resolve issues on existing parts or for a new product / new part or die development 7. Prepare reports and report to Operations / Quality Management & Supervision – maintain records on SEM Lab web page 8. Review of defective steel from customer claims and field failures to aid plant in troubleshooting and correcting quality issues 9. Liaison with academic institutions and external Laboratories on studies pertaining to steel characteristics and properties Position Requirements: 1. Understanding of SEM equipment and software 2. Understanding of sheet steel specifications and their forming characteristics 3. Able to use Microsoft Office and other software like OMS, MES Level 3 4. Good communication skills, written and verbal 5. Able to travel Education and Experience: 1.
