In addition, this position supports the effectiveness of the entire company quality program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop Customer Centric Quality objectives for the bearing manufacturing business aligning with the overall company Quality Plan. • Effectively communicate the objectives to company management team and develop strategies to achieve the quality goals of the business unit. • Provide guidance and direction to plant presidents for achieving the company quality goals. • Develop strategies to continuously improve the knowledge and performance of Quality personnel. • Provide guidance, direction and develop QM members to excel in problem solving and support the plants in achieving the quality objectives. • Ensure proper awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization including coordination of TS16949 certification and plant audits. • Understand company Japan Quality requirements for Warranty Cost Reduction, in-process defect elimination and standardization activities. Lead in promoting these activities in the business unit. • Serve as Management representative to ensure that processes needed for the QMS (Quality Management System) are implemented and maintained in accordance with company Global Quality policy. • Provide leadership during interface with customers and government agencies. • Support Director to report QMS performance to management. • Develop cross functional activities for quality improvement and cost reduction to support plant goals. • Strengthen self-reliance for all bearing manufacturing plants. • Support Supplier Quality Assurance department in resolving major quality issues. (Technical and trouble shooting) Supervisory Responsibilities • Supervise company Quality Management Department staff and support bearing manufacturing quality managers. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Customer-focused with strong service orientation. • Skill to interface with OEM automotive customers to resolve problems or concerns with supplied product. • Ability to understand new technologies and develop resources to support problem resolution. • Successfully manage people to achieve performance goals. Excellent people management skills including resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork and performance management. • Ability to coach and train junior engineers and the ability to mentor peers or key potential developing members. • Ability to provide technical guidance in resolving issues arising in assembly, machining, heat treat, and die casting processes in the automotive industry. • Be able to manage and continuously improve all aspects the quality program, promptly resolve outstanding quality issues. • Use of statistical tools to analyze various quality data indicators and the experience in applying those tools to resolve problems. Specific working knowledge of utilizing 8-D and 5 why methodologies are necessary. • Fluency in Japanese language preferred. • Knowledge and experience in quality systems and quality standards; blueprints and tolerance standards; metrology and material science. • Knowledge of electronic components operation and related quality problem resolution. Education and Experience: • 4 year degree in Engineering Discipline with 10-15 years of progressive experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment."
