"Desktop engineer We require Desktop Engineers to work as part of a team supporting the migration of a clinical system. You will be part of a small team of business analysts, engineers, data quality facilitators and trainers supporting the client through the migration of their system. This role requires patience and tenacity in dealing with the client at, what is for them, a stressful time. The role is to work with the local team to support the plan and manage the IT aspects of the system migration including being on site at go-live. This may involve coordinating with the local or supplier support services where necessary, to ensure they complete all necessary IT work to make the upgrade as smooth as possible. There will be some 'learning on the job' supported by the IT workstream lead and the role will largely require the contractor to: * Ensure PCs are of the correct specification and configuration to support their new system * Ensue all existing servers are redeployed or managed through the upgrade * To ensure spoke servers are installed as appropriate * Ensure a plan is in place to ensure all existing IT systems and services are migrated appropriately * Attend go-live to carry out planned work to install/reinstall software, configure printer and provide general IT support * Update project documentation (keep records of work, update template plans, keep issue and lessons learned log up to date * Liaise with local suppliers Knowledge and Experience * Experience of the primary care sector of the NHS, ideally working with General Practice * Some knowledge of GP IT Systems and suppliers (some technical knowledge but largely an appreciation of IM&T issues) and understanding of the working of the systems and NHS processes around them * Experience of supporting small networks ( between 30-60 users) and * Understanding of wan links ( branch links and N3) * Ability to plan, document and implement IT work, working in an organised and timely fashion * Desktop support, basic server support, and basic network support skills. * IT Documentation, including risk logs, lesson learned logs and reportsWe are acting as an Employment Business.
