Post Resume -Get Paid by Employers at Resumark .com Subject: New Role - Legal Counsel / Executive – 12 month contract – household name business McKenzie Douglas posted a job: New Role - Legal Counsel / Executive – 12 month contract – household name business "Our client, a well-known business with an established presence and reputation for leading the market with regards to its technological innovations, is seeking a Legal Counsel / Executive to cover maternity leave for a 12 month period to deal with any customer disputes that arise against the business. The role: Working within a busy, dynamic team of 5, the role will encompass: • Handling customer disputes - protecting the business regarding commenced or threatened civil proceedings • Having sole conduct of own caseload comprising pre-litigation work, High Court & County Court work and Alternative Dispute Resolution claims • Handling referrals and enquiries from Trading Standards, the OFT etc • Providing commercially astute legal advice to the business with regards to actual or potential disputes. Background You will have 2 years’ relevant experience (either as a Solicitor or qualified Legal Executive) working within a high-pressured, fast-paced environment – preference will be given to those with a telecommunications sector background. Given that this is a fixed-term contract with minimal supervision, you must be able to hit the ground running, be able to work autonomously and use your own initiative. Comprehensive understanding of the dispute resolution process and an understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules are therefore a must – as is the ability to negotiate effectively and concisely communicate legal information in (often) complex situations to a non-legal audience This is an exciting time to join a prominent and thriving business. The client is aiming for a start date of mid-February to enable a 4 week handover. The role can be based either in Hertfordshire or the South West, with the preference for the former.
