"Now Hiring: Quality Manager in Marengo, IL The Site Quality Manager will lead TSCA compliance effort for the site; including operator training, and auditing of batch tickets for non-formula adds. Location- Marengo, IL Salary $80-$85K + 10%-15% Bonus Potential Lead site Quality Corrective Action Team (QCAT): Investigate and resolve customer complaints Conduct off spec and problem batch root cause investigations. As required utilize lab cooks to confirm or refute suspected causes of off spec / batch problems. Work with site team to implement effective corrective actions Key user for Valtrack System at the facility QC testing compliance, reliability and effectiveness on site: Has ownership of QC test equipment on site and ensures QC test equipment is PM’ed, calibrated, and that accuracy & repeatability are verified on a regular basis. Trains operators & supervisors on the use of all QC test equipment, and conducts periodic MSA (round robin testing, etc.) to insure that operators are using the test equipment correctly and producing consistent results. Batch ticket (formula & work instruction) system for the site: Manages Optiva formulas (site alternates, and master if sole-source). For sites with electronic recipes (VE-Batch) – audits and approves recipes to insure that they match the Optiva formula. Revises batch ticket instructions via the formula feedback process to insure that operators have complete & detailed, accurate & understandable work instructions for making batches. Trains operators/supervisors on batch chemistry and QC adjustment strategy. Lead and manage new product & new raw material introduction efforts into the site: Verify that the formula is correct in Optiva (and VE-Batch) and that instructions are clear and accurate. Insure that the formula is producible in the plant, this includes reviewing batch logs of R&D / pilot batches, and as required confirm run lab cooks of the new formula or raw material. Insure that the new product has an effective QC adjustment strategy. Train operators/supervisors on the batch making instructions, and the QC adjustment strategy. Lead quality and process improvement projects on site, utilizing Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other quality improvement tools where appropriate. Execute projects as defined by Marengo LSS leadership team. Manage pilot plant operations including scheduling, planning and execution. Manage overall process for toll manufactured materials brought into the site. Qualifications: Chemical engineer Master's degree with 2-4 years industry experience, ideally in chemical manufacturing, and exposure to Lean and Six Sigma processes. Capable of learning resin synthesis techniques and testing procedures. Strong focus on safety and quality, able to drive continuous improvement projects. Able to influence across plant, technical and business groups at operator to manager level.
