"Job: Oracle Principal Database Administrator - For the Seasoned Oracle Pro! in Houston, TX For immediate consideration please send resume to vince.rainey@ugsmail.com Job Description As a member of the DBA team, your specific responsibilities will include: Essential Job Functions Perform DBMS software implementations, upgrades and patching. Configure and administer Oracle for high availability in a clustered environment. Configure and administer Oracle for Disaster Recovery. Participate in Disaster Recovery testing efforts. Ensure proper monitoring of database environment. Implement database monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address issues. Support development, test and production Oracle databases. Participate in project technical reviews. Follow Change Management and Compliance processes and procedures. Participate in compliance and security audits. Ensure database support documentation is developed and maintained. Participate in escalation management for any database related issues. Take ownership of highly complex or critical database incidents and problems and provide resolutions in a timely manner. Engage SMEs or vendors to provide assistance to resolve more complex incidents as required. Participate in production Oracle database 24x7 on call support. Implement new database change requests. Proactively support application teams/developers with Oracle issues and questions. Follow and contribute to database best practices. Plan and lead database development and maintenance of complex databases. Provide advice on complex application data issues. Operate as a mentor to associate DBAs, providing an open learning environment for cross-team knowledge sharing. Travel Up to 25% Job Type Regular Date Required N/A Job Requirements Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Experience: 8-10 years Oracle DBA experience including extensive production support. Oracle 10g or 11g OCP DBA certification preferred. Experience working with mission critical databases. Must have significant experience with RAC troubleshooting. PL/SQL programming experience/knowledge. 11g RAC experience. 11g Data Guard experience. Grid Control/OEM experience.
