"Job: Senior Systems Engineer in Washington, DC As a senior technical leader in the Global Enterprise Technology Services group within the Information Technology Department, the Senior Systems Engineer will have a unique opportunity to research, design and implement enterprise technologies across a global computing landscape.  The Senior Systems Engineer will partner with operational and application stakeholders to define requirements and develop architecture for scalable and reliable system environments designed to meet business growth for 2011 and beyond. The qualified candidate selected for this position will help lead the restructuring our data centers; developing architecture for our server infrastructure and storage area networks; improving service provisioning methods, defining the management of enterprise systems, and enhancement of infrastructure monitoring.   The Global Enterprise Technology Services group is responsible for designing and deploying high performing, high availability solutions hosting client facing services as well as internal business systems.  The team manages numerous relationships with internal stakeholders within IT and the business lines as well as the management of vendors.  He/she will report to the Director, IT Operations developing technology road maps and implementing high profile projects.      The qualified candidate will be an IT professional with a proven track record of designing highly complex, scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions as well as monitoring systems and capacity planning processes.  As a senior systems engineer, the candidate must demonstrate vision, leadership, and effective communication skills. He/she will provide technical support for full life cycle projects, infrastructure platforms and process efforts. He/she will interface extensively with business partners and various management teams.    RESPONSIBILITIES:  Develops infrastructure architectural recommendations and road map for all core technologies.  Provides technical support for new and existing core technologies in collaboration with other technical and management stakeholders Supports the design and setup of disaster recovery strategy for production environments Communicates status and/or concerns regarding technical and project tasks to IT, business, and project management staff Identifies and proactively resolves core infrastructure/systems issues. Identifies and manages risks and issues as senior subject matter expert for daily operational support and projects. Coordinates efforts of a technical staff to administer and support infrastructure environments.
