Job Description: Interested candidates should go to and apply to req. number 14193BRThe Category Senior Manager resides in Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS). Reporting to the GSS Director, the Category Senior Manager will be responsible for business case development, strategic sourcing and ongoing supplier management for assigned scientific Services categories that support Amgens Discovery Research and Translational Sciences functions. Working within a matrix environment, the Category Senior Manager is responsible for applying in-depth disciplinary knowledge, business acumen and subject matter expertise to deliver strategic sourcing objectives. The Category Sr Manager employs category management, project management and change management techniques to effectively deliver strategic sourcing initiatives. The Category Sr Mgr leads the category management process, which includes conducting business opportunity analysis, make/buy analysis, data analysis, requirements gathering, development and execution of RFx, sourcing strategy development and implementation, contract development, negotiation and management, supplier on-boarding, and implementation and support ongoing supplier governance. Leading project and program teams accountable for successful source and supplier development and management is fundamental to the role. Basic Qualifications -Doctorate degree & 2 years of directly related experienceOR-Masters degree & 6 years of directly related experienceOR-Bachelors degree & 8 years of directly related experienceOR-Associates degree & 10 years of directly related experience OR-High school diploma / GED & 12 years of directly related experience Preferred Qualifications Category knowledge Expert knowledge of supply base, including market economics, supply base cost structure, supply base trends, supplier segmentation Expert knowledge of the market forces shaping customers business context (e.g. legal & regulatory environment, sources of competitive advantage) Ability to conduct independent market intelligence and leverage personal network Demonstrated experience in identifying and utilizing full set of supply levers to drive category performance, including the development of complex collaboration partnership with suppliers Ability to conduct benchmarking and measure category performance along all dimensions of cost, quality, risk, innovation and operating processes Ability to provide thought leadership to customers and actively shape customers overall strategy through sourcing lens Expert negotiation skillsAnalytical & technical Ability to use automated technology systems to inform category strategies & SRM activities Experience using e-procurement tools such as Emptoris, Ariba, Freemarkets, Procuri, VerticalNet, eBreviate, Frictionless, etc. Ability to quantify financial benefits for identified set o"
