View company name and apply directly at: http://bit.ly/ov5Nu2 Job Description: Teacher U is a revolutionary, practical, results-oriented teacher training program developed by the founders of Uncommon Schools, KIPP, and Achievement First. Over the past three years, Teacher U has operated a master's level program at Hunter College. Teacher U recently established a new, independent institution - Relay Graduate School of Education (RGSE) - which will begin operations in the summer of 2011. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance will manage all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance, and s/he will provide financial analyses to support key management decisions around HR policy, revenue and expansion. Additionally, the Director of Finance will play a critical role in creating important organizational infrastructure for Relay Graduate School of Education. In short, this is an outstanding opportunity to play an integral, yet non-instructional role, in urban, public education reform. QUALIFICATIONS Result-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; eagerness to take initiative and work autonomously; Excellent organizational and analytical skills with obsessive attention to accuracy and details; Familiarity with basic accounting principles and knowledge of nonprofit accounting and reporting; Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort interfacing with staff, management and external constituents; Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people; Sound judgment and discretion with respect to critical financial information and decisions; Fluency in MS Office; specifically, expertise in Excel and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; At least 3-4 years of work experience; finance, operations and/or start-up experience strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics or a related field preferred; MBA strongly preferred; Knowledge of Fund E-Z and/or Jenzabar EX a plus; A background or interest in educational reform; and A high level of zest, grit, hope, gratitude, and a sense of humor"
