"Title : Project Manager Location : Roslyn, NY Type : Contract to Hire Duration : 3 Months to hire JOB DESCRIPTION Our client located on the North Shore of Nassau County on Long Island is in the insurance industry and is looking for a Project Manager. This is a consult to hire opportunity. General Summary •Apply project management methodology and oversight to business sponsored initiatives aimed at improving operations through automation, information and business processes. The ideal candidate will come from a professional liabilities background. •Ideal is a project manager from the insurance industry with focus on process improvement through automation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: •Assist in the development of short and long term automation strategies •Direct and manage project development from beginning to end to include but not limited to: defining project goals and deliverables that support business goals; set and continually manage project expectations •Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents •Facilitate standard Cost – Benefit – Analysis and Decision Management procedures •Communicate project expectations and delegate tasks/responsibilities to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion •Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis •Estimate, determine and oversee the resources needed to achieve project goals, directly and with others •Draft and submit project budget proposals; recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary •Negotiate with other department managers for the use of personnel from within the company when needed •Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path •Plan, schedule and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools •Develop and deliver standard project communications, including: regular progress reports; proposals; requirements documentation; and, presentations •Organize and lead a variety of work sessions and meetings – to communicate; gather information; train; etc •Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans •Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout project •Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project •Conduct project post mortems and report lessons successful and unsuccessful project elements •Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management •Other duties as assigned Education & Qualifications •5-10 years experience across Property & Casualty insurance operations – Professional Liability a plus. •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. •Four years Project Management experience implementing IT solutions for business. •Project Management Institute (PMI) certification a plus. •Experience implementing standard project management methodology. •Experience using project management software – Microsoft Project. •Experience creating project management documentation (plans, agendas, status reports, RFP, RFI…) •Ability to effectively communicate with others in professional manner. •Ability to function in a professional office environment and utilize standard office equipment. •Familiarity with Delphi Technology’s OASIS policy administration system a plus."
