"Severstal North America, a major Dearborn-based steel producer in the United States and a wholly-owned subsidiary of OAO Severstal, one of the world’s largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, is seeking an Automotive Technology and Service Representative. The Company has been in the steel manufacturing business for more than seventy years and produces a variety of high quality, flat-rolled carbon steel products, including hot rolled, cold rolled and electro-galvanized steel. Severstal is a major supplier to the automotive industry and became the first integrated Steel Company in the world to achieve QS-9000 certification. Due to our ongoing commitment to quality and our expanded capacity, Severstal has the following challenging and exciting opportunity for an Automotive Technology and Service Representative. Description of Position - Coordinate activities with respect to gaining material source approval at automotive OEMs - Represent Severstal and interact with customers on a regular basis. The customer groups to have contact with include: purchasing, materials engineering, supplier quality and stamping plant. - Gain a full working knowledge of customer’s material standards and qualification requirements - Communicate requirements to internal product development group. - Participate in internal mill trials - Work with outside testing labs - Build customer qualification packages - Participate in stamping plant trials - Some travel required to facility in Columbus, MS Qualifications: - Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a steel related technical position responsible for customer technical service, product development, quality or the equivalent. - Good working Knowledge of the flat-rolled steel making process, automotive customer material standards, automotive stamping requirements, and general awareness of automotive customer expectations. - Bachelor degree in Metallurgy, material science, or mechanical engineering is preferred. - Must exhibit strong inter personal skills, good work ethic and be able to work well in a team setting. - Must be comfortable in making presentations to customer and internal groups.
