"Hiring an Engineering Design Manager in Tennessee ENGINEERING DESIGN MANAGER A leading manufacturer of industrial systems located in the South East United States is seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager to join their growing team supporting their global customer base supporting the Nuclear Power and Power Generation Industry. The Engineering Design Manager supervises the day to day activities of employees engaged in CADD and design engineering.   This includes staffing, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing and planning.  The Engineering Design Manager manages the design process from the beginning to final drawings and other specifications.  Manager contributes to the definition of system requirements and specifications.  Solid problem solving, communication and people skills are very critical for this position.  This position is responsible for the final design deliverables necessary for project execution—much of which is in the form of drawings and specifications required for the internal fabrication process. Responsibilities: Manages the CADD design engineers and assigns projects based on business needs. Involved in the creation of detailed mechanical designs / layouts /drawings/bill of materials/and 3-D models using 2D and 3D, AutoCAD and Microstation computer programs. Designs industrial support structures and develops industrial isometrics. Supports the plan and the design of the proper functional integration of industrial supports into the existing structure and plant concept, while maintaining the long-term behavior of the systems using: AutoCAD (2D & 3D), MicroStation (2D and 3D), PDMS (3D-CAD). Ensures the design engineers adhere to the permissible load values used to select beam and weld sizes, based on commonly recognized steelwork codes such as AISC, BS, DIN, ASME and VGB. Identifies deviations in job scope, estimates magnitude of changes, and initiates deviation notices. Distributes shop fabrication and field construction inquiries for resolution. Assists in the development of the engineering project completion report. Responsible for the identification of departmental or design inadequacies and improves the standards and productivity. Participates in project specification development in collaboration with company employees; developments, tests and evaluates theoretical designs; solves complex problems by thorough discussions with manufacturing departments, suppliers, sub-contractors and customers; ensures that a product can be manufactured repeatedly, consistently and will be able to perform without fail in specified operating environments; runs design projects using engineering guidelines and procedure. Supervises engineering review of requests and proposals during the annual budget process; after budget approval, assigns projects to engineering staff; sets priorities and adjusts workload accordingly.
