"Customer Service Manager - Contracts, Proposal in Illinois Job Description The Customer Service (CS) Manager will develop new and support sustaining business contracts and drive customer satisfaction.  Manages contracts to maximize financial and operational performance and minimize risk.   Interfaces with sales/marketing and customers to negotiate, establish, and administer new contracts.  Directly supervises the customer service support staff to ensure the highest quality of service to customers. The CS Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the department to achieve timely customer responses while maximizing department throughput. Assigns work and monitors department workload and schedules while staffing the department with competent, trained and motivated employees. Performs work related to department projects and assignments. The CS Manager will prioritize and balance responsibilities between the establishment of new business with contract responsibilities demanding more attention and supporting existing business demanding more focus in customer service. Primary Responsibilities Support multiple customer requests and prioritize to satisfy all customers. Performs customer service administrator duties and responsibilities as required. Interface with customers to resolve escalated internal and external customer issues. Negotiate terms, pricing and agreements with customers. Document any agreed changes or amendments that arise during a contract’s implementation or execution. Provide guidance on and execute established contracts. Analyze proposed and fulfilled contracts for risk and opportunity. Ensures contractual obligations are reviewed and understood by applicable parties. Supports and interfaces with multiple staff in development of proposals and quotations for existing and new customers. Develop and maintain metrics to measure throughput and data entry accuracy. Develop, communicate and implement departmental policies and procedures to support strategic objectives of the Marketing and Sales function. Produce written information for customers in a timely manner (such as recovery schedules, pricing adjustments, etc.) Coordinate customer service functions with other departments. Ensure compliance to Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) while interfacing with customers. Support and lead customer service related strategic initiatives, i.e. Lean, ERP, and PLM implementation. Complete performance appraisals and merit pay proposals for departmental employees. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications Proactive, positive attitude. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Comfortable working in a technical environment and working with technical products Ability to work within ambiguity Must be able to prioritize and manage time efficiently Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
