Süd-Chemie is currently looking to add a Health & Safety Manager for its operations in Louisville, KY. Position Summary: Plans and implements SCI H&S programs to promote a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates Position Description Provides input on the development of safety policies and programs including site-specific elements and implements programs working closely with local site management. Coordinates behavioral safety observation program by guiding work teams in their effort to address at-risk behaviors and by facilitating the communication process with management team. Plans and implements safety training program to train employees at all levels in work site safety practices and regulatory required topics making use of different training media and technology. Responds to significant Health, Safety and Environmental incidents and assists management team with emergency response procedures and follow-up actions. Leads the Root Cause Analysis of incidents and assists in determination and implementation of corrective actions. Responsible for ER training and drills for the site. Administers the Industrial Hygiene program for the site which will include personnel and area monitoring as well as data analysis. Maintains site Health and Safety files and records for internal recordkeeping and external reporting purposes. Conducts facility audits on safe work practices. When non-compliant or hazardous conditions are encountered, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Remains current on regulatory changes, safe operating practices, SCI Safety Rules, State and Federal regulations, etc. Interacts professionally with regulatory agencies and emergency response entities. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a related field 5-7 years of chemical or heavy manufacturing related experience and technical or health and safety specific education /training Previous experience in Process Hazard Assessment and Industrial Hygiene Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulatory documents Ability to write routine reports and clear correspondence Ability to conduct effective face to face training and give presentations on controversial or complex topics to management, regulators or public groups.
