Samsung Group includes Samsung Electronics, one of the world's leading electronics companies, and domestic heavyweights such as Samsung Life Insurance. Currently, GSG has 99 members, including 67 Global Strategists (MBA graduates from top international schools) and 21 Korean employees. The primary goal of GSG is to develop a pool of global leaders who, upon completion of their work with GSG, will transfer into a management position with one of the Samsung Group companies, either overseas or in Korea. Typical assignments include positions within Strategic Planning, Marketing, New Business Development, Human Resources, Product Planning, Financial Services and General Corporate functions. As career development facilitators, GSG management helps Global Strategists (i) better understand the operations of relevant Samsung Group companies (ii) develop a personal network within our company and (iii) identify an appropriate long-term career direction. To achieve this goal, GSG conducts strategic consulting projects to globalize the management practices of the various companies of the Samsung Group. GSG carries out project- based work with various Samsung Group companies, among which Samsung Electronics is the major client. Projects are structured in a manner similar to external consulting firm engagements. Representative projects include: • Evaluation of strategic alternatives for existing businesses • Market entry analysis and planning • Design and implementation of new product marketing strategies • Identification and cultivation of strategic alliance opportunities • Development and guidance of M&A strategy The Position Global Strategists represent the core of the GSG. As a Global Strategist, you will (i) actively manage and own all aspects of project work (ii) interact closely with senior management of Group companies and (iii) have a highly-visible role with potentially substantial impact within Samsung. In the process, you will develop advanced cross-cultural communication skills and become an agent of globalization and change within the Group."
