"We are an established professional services and consultancy organisation providing a variety of technical and management services to a major corporate client in the telecommunications sector. Included in our current project portfolio is an ongoing service to provision external remote user and application access via a secure access gateway for external suppliers. As a technical architect you will work with multiple delivery (project) managers, our customer and their suppliers to clearly define and document access requirements in line with our customer’s business objectives, and then to publish and seek approval of a design which meets those requirements, including cost estimations utilising our own bespoke quotation systems. Key responsibilities Gather and verify supplier requirements for systems and application access across Windows, Citrix and UNIX Identify relevant security policies and broker approvals from internal security functions Document an access design which meets all customer and end-user requirements Access Gateway requirements Command line systems access requirements Citrix and/or (virtual) Desktop application requirements (including application install guides, application payload etc) Communications matrix Secure business, technical and security approvals of both requirements and design documents Input to the effort and cost estimation of the work required to fulfil the agreed requirements Act as technical advisor throughout the delivery of the solution 3. Department Organisation Structure Reports to: Technical Services Manager Qualifications Desirable Vendor certifications in any of the following or equivalent will be beneficial: Microsoft MCSE Cisco CCNA VMware VCP or VCA Citrix CCA Experience This role will suit an experienced technical consultant who has worked across multiple technologies in the past. Essential: Previous customer facing experience within a large corporate environment Proven track record of analysing customer requirements and defining technical solutions Knowledge of TCP/IP network infrastructure, routing and firewall security Experience in the design and/or deployment of Citrix and Windows desktop technologies Experience in the design and/or discovery of packaged Windows applications (Windows desktop and/or Citrix) Exposure to UNIX technologies Advanced use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Visio and Project. Desirable: Solid estimating skills with the ability to contribute to project requirements assessment, estimating and planning Experience of delivery into a telecommunications environment Previous experience working for a supplier organisation / systems integrator Previous experience of Secure Global Desktop version 4.5 Other attributes/abilities Good written and verbal communication skills (to both technical and non-technical audiences), including clear technical documentation ability Disciplined prioritisation, time management and scheduling abilities - multi-tasking skills are essential Strong attention to detail and accuracy in repetitive tasks. Ability to track progress of dependencies and tenacity to chase and escalate where appropriate Ability to work across multiple work streams and manage workload effectively Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines Team player Willingness and ability to learn quickly and remain adaptable as the situation requires Well presented"
