"Windows 7 Application Deployment / Remediation Specialist We are an established professional services and consultancy organisation providing a variety of technical and management services to a major corporate client in the telecommunications sector. Included in our current project portfolio is involvement in the upgrade of our client’s standard desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7. As a Windows Application Remediation Specialist, you will work with our customer to assess Windows 7 compliance of around 900 applications and work to remediate any non-compliant applications in readiness for the new desktop build deployment. Key responsibilities Assess the level of Windows 7 and IE8 compliance of all device drivers. •Produce a report of compliance status with commentary and identify those drivers requiring remediation. •Assess manually installed applications for Windows 7 and IE8 compliance and identify applications that have not been passed by the Software Approval Board. •Assist with application remediation, resolving issues where possible or flagging applications that need further attention. •Assist with identification of forward path solutions for applications on the “red” list. •Act as the interface between the Windows 7 upgrade project and application owners / users. •Schedule and monitor the identification, testing and acceptance of Windows 7 and IE8 compatible solutions. Reports to: Windows 7 desktop upgrade project manager. 2.Experience This role will suit an experienced desktop build and/or support specialist with the following experience: Essential: •Windows application discovery, remediation, deployment and support (preferably indows 7 and IE8). •Troubleshooting Windows application deployment issues. •Use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Visio and Project. Desirable: •Experience of a Windows 7 upgrade programme. •Solid estimating skills with the ability to contribute to project requirements assessment, estimating and planning. •Experience of delivery into a telecommunications environment. •Previous experience working for a supplier organisation / systems integrator. •Application packaging and remote deployment using Radia or similar automated deployment systems. •Use of Microsoft Access (2003). •Citrix application discovery and deployment. •Migration of desktop applications to a Citrix environment. • Troubleshooting Citrix application deployment issues. 3.Other attributes/abilities •Good written and verbal communication skills (to both technical and non-technical audiences), including clear technical documentation ability. •Disciplined prioritisation, time management and scheduling abilities - multi-tasking skills are essential. •Strong attention to detail and accuracy in repetitive tasks. •Ability to track progress of dependencies and tenacity to chase and escalate where appropriate. •Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. •Team player. •Willingness and ability to learn quickly and remain adaptable as the situation requires. •Well presented."
