"GENERAL MANAGER Established in Ghana in 1997, our client is one of the fastest growing companies and a business leader in West Africa. With vision and defined strategies to develop throughout the region, the company provides a broad range of quality products with a considerable logistical capability through warehousing and wide reaching distribution operations and networks. Our client now seeks a General Manager for their logistics company comprising clearing and haulage. Responsibilities Clearing • Planning vessel birthing with vessel agent and port authorities to avoid delays in ship docking at port; • Supervising documentation officer and port clearing officer; • Following-up and problem solving with shipping line and inspection company; • Coordinating with client companies to obtain volume of future shipments for internal planning; • Assisting client companies in paying customs duties on GC net; • Following up payments from customers; • Promoting new business for company and supervising account executives; Haulage • Managing a fleet of 70 trucks operating in Ghana; • Streamlining operations to achieve continuous efficiency; Management • Assisting managing director in planning; • Supervising the supply chain operations; • Negotiating freight rates with major carriers; • Identifying, soliciting and directing all aspects of public relations, operations and staffing; • Responsible for P&L, BS, and cash flow; Ideal Candidate • Bachelors degree in Logistics and shipping is necessary; • A Masters Degree in Commerce from a recognisable tertiary institution is desirable; • 10-12 years experience at a senior level in a logistics and export company (at least 5 years experience within North West Africa or the Gulf); • Proven experience in dealing with customs and clearing at a port in West Africa; • Proven experience in high level negotiations; • High Tolerance in dealing with multiple tasks and tough government port authorities related to receiving imports; • Excellent negotiation skills; • Fully computer literate and excellent computer skills; • English is a must; • French is desirable.
