Job Function: My client seeks a strong interaction designer to help build new and compelling generations of software dedicated to the world's best engineers, designers, and architects. Successful candidate will be well trained in design, illustrate an ability to apply business goals and user priorities to design work, possess an understanding of both work flow and user tasks, and will be known for having strong technical and design skills. Candidate will have worked as a hands-on UI design practitioner and will be responsible for delivering hands-on exploratory and final design, even finished code. Responsibilities: • Hold direct responsibility for creating the user interface of key customer experiences and projects, concentrating on end-to-end scenarios and top user tasks. • Illustrate drive for ease of use and simplicity despite complexity of software/desktop applications. • Learn new design and development technology quickly. • Be capable of implementing design criteria, design guidelines, and design specs; illustrate experience with industry standards and corporate visual design guidelines. • Be capable of learning and applying design process, project, and schedule management. • Compare, contrast, and prioritize among alternative approaches to meeting design objectives, using judgment to suggest solutions to design problems that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities. • Illustrate experience in conceptual development as well as tactical UI design. Your Attributes: • Be a creative problem-solver and an effective communicator. • Exhibit ability to collaborate with developers, researchers, peer UI designers, UI text writers, and to accept input from a variety of other corporate peers and sponsors. • Be tolerant of range of projects, from vague to well-defined, simple to complex, implementation to innovation. • Strong verbal, written and visual communication and presentation skills. • Interact with and influence others effectively via teamwork and diplomacy. • Ability to adjust to changing priorities. • Ability to solve complex problems and drive projects from concept to conclusion; work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities with direction or feedback from management and teammates. Requirements and qualifications: • Four-year product/interaction design or graphic design degree or higher. • Will consider architecture, engineering or computer science degree with strong design work experience. • 6+yrs of relevant experience. • Strong portfolio/samples available for viewing. • Proficiency in prototyping and scripting a plus: PhotoShop, Flash, Director, VB, Visio skills. • Experience with XAML, Blend, Expressions, DreamWeaver, Flex, InDesign, and other innovative Adobe and Windows design tools a big bonus.
