POSITION DESCRIPTION As a member of the Plant Design Engineering group you will also be an integral member of a project based team providing technical expertise to deliver safe and cost effective process plants. The key responsibilities of the position are: • Implement assigned design work within the budget and project timescale; • Prepare design deliverables in accordance with Company processes, procedures, work instructions, departmental standards and current legislation; • Provide technical information in support of the project team; • Comply and ensure compliance with the company H&S and Environmental policies; • Where required act as Section Leader on specified projects in accordance with Company processes, procedures and work instructions; • Participate in the development of project design budgets and schedules; • Ensure timely cross discipline support; • Identify any project scope growth and correctly document it and apply the company procedures for cost reimbursement; • Expand and maintain knowledge of the latest standards, legislation and practices relating to the relevant design discipline to reinforce professional competency. KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS Plant Layout Specialist • Broad expertise in process plant site/ equipment Layout Design on conceptual, FEED and detailed design phase projects; • Experience of fabrication and erection requirements, with some site experience; • Design and Supporting of Piping systems at pressure levels from 150# through to; • High pressure (4000 Bar), High Temperature systems, Lined and Jacketed pipe work; • Expert user of Aveva PDMS 3D suite; • PDS/ SmartPlant 3D an advantage, though not essential; • AutoCAD an advantage, though not essential; • Detailed and comprehensive understanding of the relevant national and international standards, design codes and legislation applicable to process plant piping design Pipe Support Specialist • In depth knowledge of the principals of supporting piping Systems; • An appreciation of piping system flexibility analysis and its affects on pipe support and equipment nozzle loadings is essential; • A good level of understanding of the requirements for the supporting of piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 is essential, with experience in the implementation of Chapter IX (High Pressure Piping) being highly preferred; • PDMS Design and Draft; • PDMS MDS (Multi Discipline Supports); • PDS/SmartPlant 3D. QUALIFICATIONS & AFFILIATIONS • Relevant HNC /NVQ 4 or equivalent qualification and experience. EXPERIENCE • Significant relevant design experience in the petrochemical, nuclear or renewable industries. Should have knowledge and experience of the relevant key design topics operating in a multidiscipline EPC environment. COMPETENCIES • Understands, develops and communicates planning activities to the team to achieve common goals and monitors progress. Allocation of resources available to ensure complete ion of tasks based on the overall project priorities; • Candidate should be proactive in seeking opportunities for self improvement and professional development to the benefit of the Company; • Capable of identifying respective components of the problem and then using reasonable assumptions and available resources and own judgment make a decision; • Active team member, promoting open communication and sharing of goals and benefits; • Must be able to understand the needs of the customer (internal & external) and develop good relationships; • Proactive in identifying business opportunities for the Company; • Good communication skills, both written and oral; • Should have a good command of MS Office applications. SALARY • £40,000 - £45,000/ year"
