"Our client, a highly successful, long established, global FTSE 100 company, is seeking an IP specialist (ideally 3 – 7 years’ pqe*) to provide key support to all divisions of the Group. Based at their headquarters in the Midlands, this role covers a wide range of contentious and non-contentious IP matters including: • Advising, negotiating and drafting key development / collaboration agreements, R&D contracts, Trade Mark licenses, confidentiality and teaming agreements • Dealing with the administration and licensing of the Group’s portfolio and protecting the business with respect to the creation / ownership / use / confidentiality of its IP • Providing support on major commercial and corporate transactions • Providing training across the Group on basic IP law, policy and procedures • Managing dispute resolution issues and taking the lead in settlement discussions The role will also take responsibility for advising on the legal aspects of Export Control, undertaking risk assessments, advising management teams on suspected violations or infringements and helping to ensure that regulations and trade sanctions are complied with. Training will be provided on this. Our client is seeking a lawyer with a first class background along with strong commercial acumen and communication skills. An in-depth knowledge of IP law in the UK and EC (and other major jurisdictions) with experience of managing legal and regulatory risk in a highly commercial environment are essential. You must also have the intelligence and gravitas to be able to establish yourself as a key member of the legal and commercial teams, with a flexible and robust approach. Prior in-house experience (secondment or otherwise) is preferred. You can expect high quality work in a fast-paced and stimulating environment.
